Deadline for GGLCC Cost-Share
Program Grant Applications Looms

Press Release
December 2006

The Georgia Grazing Lands Conservation Coalition (GGLCC) in collaboration with the Georgia Cattlemen’s Association announces its fifth sign-up for the GGLCC cost-share projects. This Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) Grant- funded project promotes livestock production efficiency and environmental stewardship. As the most comprehensive cost-share project targeting livestock producers to date, this producer-created project will cost-share on a variety of livestock, forage, and conservation management practices.
If you need assistance with animal identification and record-keeping, cross fencing, improved forage varieties, nutrient management, heavy use area protection, hay testing and storage, pregnancy checking, bull pastures, or a variety of other practices, then this project will interest you.
Applications for the cost-share project are now available and easily downloaded by visiting the GGLCC website at www.gglcc.com. Simply click on the link that takes you to the Costshare - Practice Demonstration Project to obtain an application.
You can also contact your local NRCS or Cooperative Extension Service office to obtain an application form and additional information regarding this opportunity to improve the management of your livestock production farm.
While at the GGLCC website, take a look at the comments provided by producers from previous projects.
Producers seem to agree that the application process has benefited them greatly by providing an economic analysis of their operation and has helped them prioritize their farm needs. Producers are limited to a $10,000 GGLCC grant. Each application will be evaluated on its merits. Producer cost-share match will be a minimum of 25% (25% Producer, 75% Grant) up to 50%. Applications to participate must be submitted by Jan. 15, 2007.
Visit GGLCC online at www.gglcc.com to download your application.
